And so, the adventure continues

So after 2 hour flight delay, sleeping in the wrong room, the real reason we came to Guadalajara was here: the International Speech contest.

This year, ten participants graced the stage. The last contestant was ours, Dorina Garza Leonard. The room was almost packed, but we were nervous.

When the moment came, she took the stage like a storm, drawing everyone into her speech "My children are to blame" I paniced when I didn't see the green light and she was about to wrap up.

After a few moments of stress and panic, the winners were announced.

Dorina snagged the first place, making her the first one to ever bring home this trophy

And now, time to prepare for Vegas

It's Official!

Lo and behold! The moment we all have been waiting for since the beginning of the year. Delta is finally an official club. It's been 10 exhaustive months of forming the right team, but finally, we have received recognition from WHQ that our chartering documents are in order and are ready to continue with the Chartering process.

Every club has a number assigned, it makes administrative tasks easier and it contributes to give the club identity. The number assigned to Delta is 1412619.

Happy Birthday Cotty

There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.
-Sophia Loren

November 11 marks another milestone in the life of our club's godmother. Cotty, thank you for believing in this and pushing hard to make this dream come true. May you have many more wonderful birthdays ahead.

Happy Halloween

Halloween has been a big part of my life. Naturally it had to become part of Delta. It was the perfect opportunity to embrace a thematic session. Halloween brought to mind ghost stories, and so the projects would revolve around scary stories and the table topics would also be related to the gruesome and supernatural.

I opened the session with the story of a little girl that was jealous of her brother, because he suddenly recieved all of their parents attention, little did she know it was their way of getting over her death. Carlos told a tale related to the season's toy of preference, the Ouija board. Aaron told a legend about a house that gave gifts, but eventually drove people mad. Patty shared an experience with the dark side. Jorge shared a tale from his native Oaxaca.

Oscar, in hippie garb, prepared a couple of table topics related to the occasion. He didn't miss a soul, questions revolved around personal experiences with the supernatural to our opinion of his outfit.

Carlos told the best story and Gerardo was the best table topic response. The session closed with cupcakes, chips and good chitchat.

Memories

So I found this pic on my received files folder. This was Delta's very first session. I am glad that most of the people in this picture are still active within the Delta project. I plan on comparing this picture to one we will be taking in 3 months.

Time flies . . . when you're having fun.
